Categories: Casting, Eric Bana, Pictures, Society, Star Trek, Updates, Zachary Quinto

The coming movie Star Trek, with a release date of May 8, 2009, comes with a very familiar figure in Zachary Quinto, who himself has had a good TV career but is nonetheless more commonly known today as the Heroes’ villain Sylar. His presence should provide a good buzz to this J.J. Abrams movie as Spock.

The movie is already not limited in its cast. Chris Pine plays James Tiberius Kirk, the infamous captain of the ship. Also in the movie are Eric Bana as Nero, Winona Ryder as Amanda Greyson, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, and Karl Urban as Leonard “Bones” McCoy among many others.

Chilean Volcano Whips Violent Flatulence

Categories: Popular Interest, Society

I don’t really know much about volcanoes and pyroplastics and why the Earth poops out its inner feelings every once in awhile, but I can say this, beware the person who woke up on the wrong side of the bed and beware a Chaiten Volcano that has slept for more than 450 years. Here’s a mental picture: 450 years ago was around that time when Nostradamus was writing his doomsday predictions. Well, tell you what, he did not foresee this one!

The Chaiten Volcano erupted and spewed tons of ..err ..inner earth material up 20 miles into the air forcing 4,000 residents to flee town, some even going as far as Argentina (where Manu Ginobli is from. But he’s not there.. he’s in Texas. Teehee!) . The explosion coincided with rain, and it created mud. duh! The mud was in the air though, specifically the stratosphere - which is, like, really high - and there it stayed. It’s still actually up there now. Seriously!

On a lighter note though, unexpected as this was, and while mud continues to pour down over the country, the report did say that Chile is one of the most volcanic countries on Earth, with more than 100 active volcanoes. Experts have said about 20 are in danger of erupting at any time. So that’s food for thought.

If you’re like me, you probably think of Cinco de Mayo (5th of May) as a Mexican fiesta, some of my other over-informed counterparts think of it as the Mexican independence day though.
