Johnny Depp Is Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland Movie

Categories: 2010, Alice in Wonderland, Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Updates

Johnny Depp is bound to play the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. Depp, already known to play eccentric roles in his movies should give this character a lot of craze.

The Hatter is a fictional character initially encountered at a tea party in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and later again as “Hatta” in the story’s sequel, Through the Looking Glass. He is popularly referred to as the “Mad Hatter,” but is never called by this name in Carroll’s book- although the Cheshire Cat does warn Alice that he is mad, and the Hatter’s eccentric behavior supports this. The The film also reunites him with director Tim Burton with whom he’s made several blockbusters including Sweeney Todd, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sleepy Hollow, Ed Wood and my favorite, Edward Scissorhands. Tim Burton has also cast Mia Wasikowska to play Alice in the movie.

Alice in Wonderland is set to hit theaters in 2010. Please subscribe to BackLineMedia for more updates on this movie.
