Horror flicks are never mediocre - you either love ‘em or hate ‘em but you seldom say ‘it’s alright.’ After seeing the trailer for the Asian remake of The Echo, I think it’s one to dwell on the better side of things.
I had said before that when this movie comes up, it should feed the Scary Movie franchise with new material. Jesse Bradford had always been cool on my list - quite underrated too if you ask me. He should bring something new to horror movies beginning with a talent worth watching.
Needless to say, it certainly comes with the tried and tested formula for creating a horror flick:
- Get it from the Asians. American horror flicks are lame. Hint: Chuckie
- Get the original director for the remake.
- Have a respectable but not too overwhelming actor play the lead.
- Title should start with the word ‘The’ followed by some weird ass word - off the The Grudge, The Ring, and The Happening schtick.
- There are no such thing as haunted houses anymore, there are only haunted apartments.
