Magneto Movie Revelations could be Interesting

Categories: Magneto, Rumors, X-Men Origins

The initial scene of the first XMen movie sent chills down my spine. It involved a kid being taken away from what looked like a prison camp. Reaching out as he is dragged, the fence that separates him is torn apart. How factual my memory is, I cannot be certain, but I somehow found it cool that the movie spent a scene to explain Magneto’s resentment towards mankind.

Of course, that was all there is to that scene. The movie then jumped to the 21st century. Magneto was now a mutant leader and arch-enemy to Charles Xavier and the Xmen. And those missing chapters, the part where Magneto became Magneto, that’s what I hope to see come 2009.

It would be interesting how Magneto is played out as an anti-hero. You dont want him to get away from his villainous side, but you also dont want to glorify his values (..bad example for kids). I fonr one would like to see him with a young Charles Xavier - to see how they built and ruined their friendship. And at that, hope to see Charles without the wheel chair as well (or with hair.. maybe). Henry McCoy has also been rumored to be part of the film - seeing how he would become Beast would prove to be interesting.

And since we’re treading seniorities in the Marvel universe, why not bring in the love interest, Magda. Magneto did have twins with her - Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. I wonder if this is something worth showing in the film as well.

Source: While in Auschwitz, Magneto falls in love with a gypsy named Magda. Together, they escape the prison camp and marry. Magda soon gives birth to their daughter, Anya, who is later killed in a fire, with a mob of people preventing Magneto from rescuing her. Enraged, Magneto’s powers manifest uncontrollably, killing the mob and the surrounding townspeople. Terrified, Magda flees Magneto, discovering months later she is pregnant again. After giving birth to the mutant twins Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch in Wundagore, Magda disappears.

I guess it’s because I’ve read a lot about the Xmen that I’m speculating. And I find it intriguing what other revelations would come about. I only hope that the movie does justice to Magneto like I viewed him from my childhood, and not Hollywoodize things for the sake of grabbing the bucks. Except maybe for the costume. Lolz!

Really.. A Podcast?

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 6 or above) is required to play this audio clip. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Back in 2006, I tried doing podcasts for a good 5 months. The blogosphere wasn’t a riled up then as they are now, but I think I did get a good audience that continues to thrive until today. Perhaps the only problem about that time is that I wasn’t entirely sure if it was meant for me.. and the idea of revealing myself in the net wasn’t anything I have grasped yet.

Now though, my life has become the web itself making money online and still managing to crop some of the good old fun that I had when I was podcasting. Now I’ve skipped this gig because it’s proven to be a lot of work with very little pay - some recognition perhaps, but nothing rewarding. Maybe it’s just not for me. Still, it’s nice to reminisce.. although, you can tell, I’m really bad at it. =P

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Categories: The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Trailers

Directed by Rob Cohen and starring Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, and Michelle Yeoh, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is sure to be one of summer’s biggest blockbusters. At least that’s what the trailer promises.

The first full trailer of the film was released earlier. And I did not think this franchise could have so much material. First they had the mummies of Egypt, then the mummies of China. Next they can go to the shrunken mummies of the Philippines or the Inca’s Children of the Cold. It’s mummies.. everywhere!

American Teen

Categories: American Teen, Trailers, Uncategorized

There is something nostalgic about the American Teen trailer. Directed by Nanette Burnstein, a name that sounds cool but I haven’t heard before, it prompts you to go down memory lane and look at how bad you were was back then. OR, if you felt so good with that part of your life, prompt you to realize how bad you are now.

As for my life.. coming from the guy who spent his recess and lunch in the library to get away from people who would make him their project leaders so he’d do everything, there’s nothing better than geeks getting revenge and I sure hope my movie alter ego ain’t the one who dies in this movie. Lolz! Aren’t teen drama movies always better when someone suffers an accident? Just in the movie though. Knock.. on.. wood.

And it sure reminds me of the old defunct show Thank God it’s Sabado in the Philippines. Oh crap, that’s the nostalgia thing goin’ on…

The Reciprocal Consulting Blog

Categories: Uncategorized

The reciprocal consulting blog seems to be a fairly new website discussing search engine optimization, social media, viral marketing and all things internet marketing. Internet marketing is of course the manner by which products and services are marketed through the web.

The site gives good insight as to the many different aspects of what companies can do in order to improve readership and translate clicks into cash. Their first articles, or what I’ve seen so far, discusses why you should market your business on the internet, Google’s Adwords program as well as the misconceptions on SEO. These are wonderful topics to read through if you’re invested in making money online, and especially if you plan to create a marketing campaign in the web.

Mind you, the web is poised to make a trillion bucks worth of commerce in the next five years, and SEO companies should be vying for precious keywords and ranks. Most of us who are already in this industry know for a fact that contextual advertising, PayPerClick and viral marketing are just some of the things companies can do in order to promote themselves. Knowing the facts, of course, relies heavily on good resources. The reciprocal consulting blog is one of these.

Leonardo Di Caprio as Captain America?

Categories: Avengers, Captain America, Leonardo di Caprio, Rumors

I don’t know if I’m being too zealous about this but I do see Leonardo di Caprio as Captain America. He’s got the all American, blue collar look. He’s not a pretty boy, but he’s handsome and he does have enough spunk. I’m also liking the idea of Di Caprio playing the hero because he’s been stuck with the Titanic boy image. I mean, that dude’s 33 years old now…

The history of the film is what I find most intriguing, would it start in present day or would they stay true to the origins and have him discovered frozen in a block of ice:

Source: …the superhero team the Avengers discovers Steve Rogers’ body in the North Atlantic, his costume under his soldier’s uniform and still carrying his shield. After he revives, they piece together that Rogers had been preserved in a block of ice since 1945, surviving in such a state only because of his enhancements from Operation Rebirth.

Anyway, this isn’t set in stone yet. The only thing we know is that Marvel is interested in him (and Brad Pitt, so for all you know it might be Brad as Cap and Leo as Thor).

Wanted : From Comic to Screen

Categories: Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, Updates, Wanted

Various clips of wanted are now on the web but I’ve only seen one of them because I didn’t want to be spoiled for the movie. I can tell you though that it’s got its own way of telling a story that might be different from the way we’re used to. It’s partly the narration, or maybe the music.. but I can say this, it tries to be faithful to the comic book.

At least that’s what I got from watching the Comic to Screen featurette available at the Wanted website. It’s flash so I cant link it directly. To see it, go to the site and click on “watch the restricted trailer” at the left side of your screen. Then you’re gonna be asked for some info (coz the movie is R-rated), as long as you’re over 18 you’ll see it.
