Magneto Movie Revelations could be Interesting

The initial scene of the first XMen movie sent chills down my spine. It involved a kid being taken away from what looked like a prison camp. Reaching out as he is dragged, the fence that separates him is torn apart. How factual my memory is, I cannot be certain, but I somehow found it cool that the movie spent a scene to explain Magneto’s resentment towards mankind.

Of course, that was all there is to that scene. The movie then jumped to the 21st century. Magneto was now a mutant leader and arch-enemy to Charles Xavier and the Xmen. And those missing chapters, the part where Magneto became Magneto, that’s what I hope to see come 2009.

It would be interesting how Magneto is played out as an anti-hero. You dont want him to get away from his villainous side, but you also dont want to glorify his values (..bad example for kids). I fonr one would like to see him with a young Charles Xavier - to see how they built and ruined their friendship. And at that, hope to see Charles without the wheel chair as well (or with hair.. maybe). Henry McCoy has also been rumored to be part of the film - seeing how he would become Beast would prove to be interesting.

And since we’re treading seniorities in the Marvel universe, why not bring in the love interest, Magda. Magneto did have twins with her - Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. I wonder if this is something worth showing in the film as well.

Source: While in Auschwitz, Magneto falls in love with a gypsy named Magda. Together, they escape the prison camp and marry. Magda soon gives birth to their daughter, Anya, who is later killed in a fire, with a mob of people preventing Magneto from rescuing her. Enraged, Magneto’s powers manifest uncontrollably, killing the mob and the surrounding townspeople. Terrified, Magda flees Magneto, discovering months later she is pregnant again. After giving birth to the mutant twins Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch in Wundagore, Magda disappears.

I guess it’s because I’ve read a lot about the Xmen that I’m speculating. And I find it intriguing what other revelations would come about. I only hope that the movie does justice to Magneto like I viewed him from my childhood, and not Hollywoodize things for the sake of grabbing the bucks. Except maybe for the costume. Lolz!

Purple + Red = FAIL!

  1. astig! fan ka din pala ng xmen. i like magneto’s character in the comics but not much in the movie.

as i can remember in one episode in the xmen classic cartoon series where magneto decided to save charles xavier as they kill the mother sentinel.

that scene is still in my mind.

gusto ko rin syang kontrabida pero my favorite villain is still apocalypse.
