Isiah Thomas, the renowned Detroit Pistons bad boy and one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history, has been fired as coach of the New York Knicks, overshadowing the bright legacy he had marked in the 80’s.
Even a 4-year old could have predicted it. Isiah’s departure from the Knicks had long been sought by the basketball world. Not to say everything whack about the ballclub was his fault - the Knicks had already been whack long before he came in. Still Isiah proved to add only to the problems rather than provide solutions. He gave humongous salaries to people who clearly didn’t deserve them, he fought with a player, and for what it’s worth, still spoke in a disturbingly high-pitched voice all these years. Seriously, what player would listen to a coach who speaks like the Highschool librarian?
